The avocados are a global favourite with origins in Mexico. They are very popular for their creamy buttery flavour, which also gives them their alternate name 'Butterfruit'. Avocados normally arrive semi-ripe and need to soften (sometimes change colour to reddish tinges) before they are ready to be consumed. Once ripe, cut lengthwise into half to reveal a large seed surrounded by yellow-green flesh. Scoop out the flesh and use as desired.
