The galangal root is a spice native to South Asia. It belongs to the same family as ginger and is widely used in Asian cooking and in Ayurvedic medicine. Galangal has a strong aroma and flavour, similar to that of ginger but with a slight twist. It is simmered in curries to add aroma and flavour and is supposed to have many benefits for inflammation, fertility and even treat infections. Loosely wrap in cling foil and store in refrigerator.
