Amla, or Gooseberry, is a source of antioxidants The berries have a Sour, bitter, astringent, fibrous favlour with an aroma like that of raisins or tea. The fibrous fruit can be eaten raw, but is more commonly pickled or softened with oil, salt, and spices. They can also be soaked in sugar syrup until they become candied. Wash it in cold water, pat dry and place in a single layer on cookie tray in freezer and once frozen, transfer to airtight containers.
